Heavenly Butter Rolls
Heavenly Butter Rolls are soft, pillowy rolls made with an enriched dough and plenty of creamy butter for a tender, lightly sweet result. The dough comes together with a simple mixing and rise technique rooted in classic Southern baking. Plan on about 2 to 3 hours from start to finish, including rise time.

Ingredients
For the Dough:
- 4 cups all-purpose flour sifted
- 1 package active dry yeast
- 1 cup whole milk warmed
- ½ cup unsalted butter melted
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs room temperature
For the Filling:
- ¼ cup brown sugar packed
- ½ cup unsalted butter softened
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk and let it sit until foamy, approximately 5-10 minutes.
- Add the melted butter, sugar, salt, and eggs to the yeast mixture. Mix until well-blended.
- Gradually add the sifted flour, beating well until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, roughly 1-2 hours.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out to a 12x18-inch rectangle.
- Spread the softened butter over the dough, sprinkle with brown sugar, and dust with cinnamon.
- Roll up the dough tightly from the long side, then slice into 8 equal pieces.
- Place slices on a greased baking sheet, brush with additional melted butter, and let them rise for an additional 30 minutes.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Serve warm.

- Allow the butter and eggs to come to room temperature to ensure they incorporate smoothly with the dry ingredients.
- For a hint of citrus, add a teaspoon of orange or lemon zest to the filling.
- For a sweeter roll, increase the sugar in the dough by an additional 1/4 cup.
