Traditional flapjacks are dense, chewy oat bars held together with butter, sugar, and golden syrup and baked until just set. They keep well in an airtight tin for several days, making them a practical bake to have on hand. The whole recipe takes around 30 minutes from start to finish.

Instructions
Prepare the Baking Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9-inch square baking pan with parchment paper, extending over the edges for easy removal later.
Melt Butter and Mix: In a saucepan over low heat, melt the butter, brown sugar, and golden syrup together. Stir gently until completely melted and combined, resulting in a smooth, glossy mixture.
Combine Ingredients: Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in a pinch of salt. Then, in a large mixing bowl, combine the melted mixture with rolled oats, mixing thoroughly until all oats are well coated.
Transfer to Pan and Bake: Pour the oat mixture into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly with a wooden spoon. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, until the edges turn golden brown and crispy.
Cooling and Cutting: Let the flapjacks cool in the pan on a wire rack for about 10 minutes. Lift them out using the parchment overhang and allow them to cool completely before cutting into bars.

Notes
For a chewier texture, reduce the baking time by a few minutes.
Consider adding nuts or raisins for an extra flavor twist.
