Tiramisu Gelato brings together bold espresso, cocoa, and a creamy mascarpone-style base in frozen form. The churning process gives it a denser, smoother consistency than standard ice cream. It takes around 30 minutes of active prep plus several hours of freezing time.

1cupwhole milkpreferably organic
¾cupgranulated sugar

2tablespoonscocoa powder

Instructions
Prepare the Base: In a saucepan over medium heat, combine heavy cream and milk, stirring until it begins to steam but not boil.
Whisk the Yolks: In a mixing bowl, whisk together egg yolks and sugar until the mixture becomes pale and slightly thick.
Combine and Thicken: Slowly add the hot cream mixture to the egg yolks while whisking continuously. Return the mixture to the saucepan over low heat, stirring until it thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon. Remove from heat.
Flavor the Ice Cream: Once the cream mixture has cooled slightly, stir in the chilled espresso, coffee liqueur, vanilla extract, and mascarpone until smooth.
Churn: Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
Freeze: Transfer the churned gelato to a container, sprinkling cocoa powder on top, and freeze for at least 4 hours before serving.

Notes
For an alcohol-free version, skip the coffee liqueur.
Consider adding finely chopped chocolate or ladyfinger crumb swirls for a textural contrast.
