Decadent Chocolate Chip Cookies with a Twist of Sea Salt
Tammy Smith
Flaky at the edges and chewy in the center, these chocolate chip cookies are finished with a pinch of flaky sea salt that sharpens the sweetness of the chocolate. The dough comes together in 15 minutes and the cookies bake in about 12.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and baking soda. Set aside.
In another large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is smooth and creamy. This should take about 3-4 minutes using an electric mixer on medium speed.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips gently using a spatula.
Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches between each cookie.
Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown but the centers remain soft.
Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle with a touch of sea salt flakes. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
