Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies
Tammy Smith
These chocolate chip cookies use a standard creamed-butter dough that bakes up with soft, chewy centers and slightly crisp edges. The whole process takes under 30 minutes, and the recipe is easy to scale up when you need a larger batch.

Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and both sugars with an electric mixer until light and fluffy, approximately 3 minutes.
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Fold in the chocolate chips evenly throughout the dough using a spatula or wooden spoon.
Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches between each cookie.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown but the centers look slightly underbaked.
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack to cool completely.

Notes
Tammy’s Tips:
For a nutty flavor, consider toasting the flour slightly before use.
Substitute milk chocolate chips for a sweeter cookie or add a touch of sea salt to the tops of the cookies before baking for a contrast in flavor.
